This policy explains how Kinsie Inc. handles health data. It's written for people protected by Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's consumer health data law and similar laws, and we follow it for everyone. Our Privacy Policy covers everything else.
What health data we collect
- skin conditions, like eczema, rosacea or acne, and how severe they are;
- sensitivities, allergies and ingredients you avoid;
- special conditions, like pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, or hormonal or autoimmune conditions;
- diary entries: how your skin is doing, symptoms, mood, and things like your period, illness, sleep or stress;
- photos of your skin;
- anything you tell Plum about your health, and what Plum remembers from it;
- what we work out from this information, like your Ingredient Fit, Prediction Scores and % Match.
Where it comes from
- You, when you fill in your skin profile, write in your diary, or chat with Plum.
- Kinsie, when we work out scores and matches from what you've shared.
How we use it
- to provide the features you use: your matches, scores, kins and Plum;
- to keep Kinsie safe, including safety checks on Plum messages;
- to fix problems and improve Kinsie, including reviewing feedback on Plum's answers;
- to follow the law.
We never sell your health data or use it for ads.
Your permission
We ask for your permission before we collect your health data, and again before we share it in any way that isn't needed for the features you use. You can withdraw your permission at any time.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that process it for us under contract: our hosting, AI, analytics and crash-reporting providers. They may receive any of the data listed above, only to run Kinsie for us.
- Other members: your Skin Profile Labels (skin type, conditions, concerns and sensitivities), which show on your profile unless you turn them off in Settings, and diary logs you share to your feed.
- When the law requires it.
- A company that acquires Kinsie, which must keep these same promises.
We have no affiliated companies. We don't let third parties collect your health data as you move across other apps and websites.
Your rights
You can:
- ask whether we collect or share your health data, and get a copy of it;
- get a list of every third party we've shared it with, and how to contact them;
- withdraw your permission;
- delete it. You can delete most of it yourself in the app. When you ask us, we also delete it from our service providers, and from our backups within 6 months.
To make a request, email legal@kinsie.app from the address on your Kinsie account. We'll confirm it's you and reply within 30 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you why. Requests are free.
If we say no
You can appeal by replying to our email or writing to legal@kinsie.app. We'll answer within 45 days. If we still say no, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General's office (atg.wa.gov) or the Nevada Attorney General's office (ag.nv.gov).
Changes to this policy
If we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If we want to use your health data in a new way, we'll ask for your permission first.
